ELEVATEX Dev Update (25th of November, 2025)

As many of you have noticed, we’ve been relatively quiet for some time. During this period, our team has been fully focused on developing our Virtual Airlines integration. However, we also began work on an additional initiative, one that was not part of our original timeline.

Back in 2022, ELEVATEX launched with a codebase built on AngularJS, which has served as the foundation of our platform since then. As we planned ahead, it became clear that continuing with this framework would limit our ability to implement future features efficiently across the upcoming mobile app, the current desktop application, and the website. While progressing through the Virtual Airlines development, we reached a critical decision point: implement the new functionality in Angular, or move forward with a full framework transition now and avoid the need for a second rebuild next year.

After careful evaluation, we chose to proceed with the rebuild immediately. This decision was further supported by the fact that our mobile app. free for all users will be developed using React Native, making React the natural choice for long-term consistency and scalability across all platforms.

We have now transitioned the application from Angular to React. This has been a significant undertaking, but we are pleased to share that the rebuild is nearing completion. We expect to deliver the updated version to our QA testers in the first week of December.

Early results have already shown substantial improvements. Memory usage has dropped considerably, with some tests showing usage as low as 280MB. While performance will vary depending on individual scenarios and we are still optimizing, we are very encouraged by these gains. The new technology stack has also enabled a more responsive, modern, and intuitive experience overall.

More details on these enhancements will follow later in this announcement.

Virtual Airlines Update

Development on Virtual Airlines has been progressing well. We now have a preliminary version of the website live, along with the operational management interface for Virtual Airline staff. Please note that everything shown in the screenshots below is still a work in progress and not final.

Once the newly rebuilt application mentioned earlier is released, we will begin integrating the remaining Virtual Airlines features into the app. Our goal is to launch Virtual Airlines by the end of December per roadmap. However, with the holiday season approaching, there is a possibility that the release may slide into January. We will provide a more accurate timeframe as soon as we know more.

We want to thank New England Virtual and especially Adam for all the help and support they provided while we developed the new OPS website. We’ve worked hard to make the interface easy to use, without requiring users to set up things that we can handle on our end. We’re also happy to share that New England Virtual will be our official partner when we launch Virtual Airlines.

App Update Sneak Peak đź‘€

As mentioned earlier, we’ve rebuilt the application from the ground up. There are far too many changes to cover in one announcement, but we’d like to highlight three that really stand out.

Enhanced Active Flight Behavior

The active flight panel has also been redesigned. We built on our existing logic and improved it further. We know the current app’s “delayed” and “on time” indicators can be a bit finicky, so we rebuilt that entire system. It now shows departure and arrival delays accurately, and even predicts whether your flight is likely to be delayed. It now also includes an even smaller widget so it covers less of the map. In the simplified widget, the bar will automatically update to reflect your current on-time status.

VATSIM Frequency Switcher

We’ve overhauled the VATSIM frequency-switching logic and introduced a more intuitive, faster way to change frequencies. You can now switch to any CTR, APP, DEP, or airport frequency by simply right-clicking it on the map, and it will update instantly in your simulator.

An EFB?....

While redesigning parts of the app especially the flight briefing, which is currently tucked away in a slide-out we decided to introduce a feature that had originally been planned for a later stage. For now, this new EFB is available only within the app, but next year we plan to bring it to tablets so you can monitor your flight externally. The feature is still in development, so the final EFB layout may look different by the time the update is released.

The EFB is fairly simple at the moment, but it will continue to grow as we expand its capabilities.

Finally,

We hope this gives you a clear picture of why things have been quiet on our end. When we go silent and you still see us online you can bet it means one thing: we’re deep on the grind, pushing ELEVATEX to the next level! We expect to deliver the new app build to QA in the first or second week of December. Following QA approval, we will proceed with the app release, with the VA release planned for late December or early January.

Thank you for the incredible support. We wouldn’t be here without this community.

From all of us at ELEVATEX - thank you!
