NOTAM - Windows Update causing connectivity issues

Hi all,

We’ve been informed through a support ticket that a recent Windows update released yesterday/today is causing widespread issues affecting many other applications and developers. The updates are KB:5066835, KB:5066131 and KB:5065789.

This update impacts ELEVATEX, preventing it from connecting to the simulator. The root of the issue appears to be changes Microsoft made to the HTTP/2 protocol, which are disrupting localhost connections.

Several users on Stack Overflow have suggested potential workarounds, which may help restore functionality.

⚠️ Important: Please proceed with caution. We are not responsible for any issues that may arise from uninstalling or modifying system updates. Alternatively, you may choose to wait until Microsoft releases an official hotfix. However, affected applications, including ELEVATEX may remain non-functional in the meantime.

There are two methods to resolve this issue. The first is the less intrusive option.

First method (preferred)

In the registry, navigate to:

• HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Services\HTTP\Parameters

• Under the Parameters folder, right-click in the right-hand pane and select New > DWORD (32-bit) Value.

• Name the value EnableHttp2Tls and set its data to 0 (zero).

• Repeat the process to add another value named EnableHttp2Cleartext and set its data to 0.

• Restart the machine.

Second method

• Press WIN+R and type in "CMD" than hit CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER (This runs the CMD with administrator permissions).
